The educational objectives of the department are focused on a "scientific basis" and "humanistic conservation". Therefore, in terms of educational content, in addition to cultivating students' scientific and managerial expertise, we also focus on stimulating student’s creativity; serving and caring attitude, teamwork and cooperation habits, among others; ensuring that students are able to catch up with the fierce and rapid pace of technological change by fully integrating environmental factors such as technology, organization, processes, and manpower, and this way reach a level of expertise on leading organizational innovation and enhancing organizational efficiency and competitiveness. In the master's program, the department mainly focuses on preparing students for the future of information society, using the integration of relevant theoretical frameworks, a practical application of information technology, analytical methods and business management knowledge to help companies identify business environments and opportunities, as well as conducting strategic planning. In order to effectively assist enterprises to solve business management problems and create competitive advantages for them, the department covers the key and most important areas of management, decision making support and information technology. At first, the management field, that focuses on important areas of knowledge about all aspects of business management, and how companies can effectively use information technology to solve organizational problems caused upon the introduction of information technology for the first time. Relevant topics include corporate strategy planning, the economic value of information systems, global information systems, information and industry competition, electronic/mobile commerce, and corporate re-engineering.
Second, the decision making support field, which focuses on the analysis of enterprises’ data and the computerization of decision-making models, such as enterprise simulation, group decision support systems, fuzzy models, neural network systems, artificial intelligence, and data mining.
Third, we have the application of information technology, this field focuses on the management of relevant information technology to solve the issues that technology planning and development design bring along when introducing IT. The topics include information system development, database design, network management, data mining, artificial intelligence, IoT, cloud computing, information system security, multimedia information processing, etc. As for the Ph.D. program, first above, we focus on forming excellent management asset professors, so that they have the ability to engage in information management education and research, and ensure that they are able to explore important issues related to information management in light of the practical environment of local and foreign companies, as well as to explore the causes of issues beneath the field, other than that we prepare our Ph.D. student s to identify and go through the impact of these issues on individuals and organizations. Finally, abstract it into a theoretical concept, complete an empirical research, and come up with more significant insights. We also do many IT-related researches such as software engineering, information security, IoT, data mining, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, mobile computing and FinTech.
Remarkable achievements: Since the establishment of the department, its main strength has been the recruitment of well qualified professors and the establishment of the Institute. Currently, there are 21 full-time instructors, including 11 full-time professors, 3 associate professors and 6 assistant professors, all of whom have doctoral degrees. The master's program was established in 1991. The doctoral class began enrolling students in the country in 1983. This program has a vast practical experience in several fields such as information management, information technology and decision making, all of which meet the needs of different students’ aptitudes. Also, in a near future, the department will hire more experts in information technology and management to provide students with the best learning environment. The department is well balanced when it comes to education and research. The teachers are in average young and they are often sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, etc., and are engaged in various research related projects that have to do with information management. They have and continue to publish papers in local and foreign journals and often organize and participate in relevant academic conferences.
With about 611 students, 410 Bachelor’s program students (number of students in the first semester of 2020) (two shifts per year) The university's educational policy is to incept on the students the theoretical foundations of information technology. Upon the students' entry, they are introduced to the theory and its applications step-by-step. Later on, during senior years, students acquire the experience of developing practical information systems. When enterprises introduce information technology, they may systematically discuss and study the cases and solutions that may be encountered.
The Master's program counts with 118 students (number of students in the first semester of 2020) The master's program courses and overall educational objectives focus on strengthening the integration of students in information technology, management decision-making, information management and corporate strategy. In addition, students can choose a management group or a science and technology group to conduct a research on papers in related fields according to their own interests. The management group focuses on cultivating business information management personnel, and the technology group focuses on the application of information technology in enterprises.
73 master's in-service classes (number of students in the first semester of 2020) The Master's in-service class is provided to corporate executives, information system developers, instructors, etc., to study information management and e-commerce-related integrated high-level courses. In order to prepare students for further study, the course is arranged on Friday nights and Saturdays. Students are also set up to form a team to communicate closely with the tutor.
Ph.D. program, 10 students (number of students in the first semester of 2020) The doctoral classes are divided into management and science and technology groups, focusing on in-depth theoretical and applied research in the field of information management, and getting teachers involved in information management education in colleges and universities. The management team focuses on integrating information technology, management decision-making, corporate management and policy management. The technology group focuses on the research and application of information technology in enterprises. Such as system development, database, network, genetic calculations, data mining, etc. The teaching objective of doctoral and master's courses also emphasizes on an international outlook and foreign language applications.
4,741 "graduate alumni" (up to June 2019) In addition to most of the doctoral degree graduates teaching in national and private colleges and universities’ information management departments, some of them become high-level managers of different public and private institutions. Many graduate students have gradually emerged in the corporate world and get to be information-related leaders in the corporate industry.
